Joy Kulanada(57) took a Masters Degree in Economics from Kerala University and went into Journalism. He started his career in Veekshanam Daily as Sub editor and after one year he chose Banking as his main career and joined Canara Bank. Later he worked in Abu Dahabi Commercial Bank, UAE for two decades and returned to India in 1998.
His first Cartoon appeared in Malayala Nadu weekly in 1969. As a freelance Cartoonist, he is drawing Cartoons for the last 38 years and providing cartoons for various publications in India and abroad. His Cartoons appeared in Malayala Manorama, Mathrubhoomi, Mangalam and other leading publications. His Cartoons also published in Gulf English dailies like Khaleej times, Gulf News, Emirates News and Arabic Sports Magazine ‘Al Hadaf’ and published three cartoons books ‘Silence Please’, ‘Gulf Corner’ and ‘Nethakkalude Lokam’.
He has a special talent for drawing wordless Cartoons. His wordless cartoon column ‘Silence Please’ which is publishing in ‘Mathrubhoomi’ daily ( Narmabhoomi) is a hit.
Now Joy is Vice - Chairman of Kerala Cartoon Academy. ‘ Hindustan Times ’ appreciated his cartoons and caricatures several times.
Joy lives in Kulanada with his wife Remani. Son Neetish (Abu Dhabi) Daughter Neethu (Dubai) Daughter in law Sanju (Abu Dhabi) Son in Law Albin (Dubai).
